English Victorian Walnut Shaving Mirror with Octagonal Base, c.1850–1865A finely proportioned Victorian gentlemans shaving mirror in walnut, circa mid 19th Century. The concave circular mirror plate tilts on its original adjustable bracket, allowing the concave glass to be angled for shaving. Raised on a slender turned baluster stem above a well modelled stepped base with an unusual octagonal outline with ebonised detailing. The restrained turning and elegant proportions reflect the influence of earlier Georgian dressing
