The Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment was created, initially as an infantry unit, but it was converted into an armored regiment in January 1942. On June 6, 1944, the regiment landed on the beaches of Normandy as part of the exploitation force for 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. The next day, it fought the first Allied tank battle in
