Polar Bear Bones, SvalbardThe skull of a polar bear, half reclaimed by the tundra. Bleached bone sits among moss and small Arctic wildflowers, white and yellow, growing up through and around the remains. Patches of green lichen have taken hold on the skull itself. There's still fur visible among the scattered bones. I found this on Svalbard under flat, grey light that removed all shadow and let the detail speak for itself.
