Carved Buoy with Great Form and Rainbow of ScuffsThe shape of this old carved wood buoy does it for me, with the sway of the form making with think of a human figure, back arched and belly protruding. What makes it really beautiful to me, though, is the surface patina, particularly how the white paint shows a rainbow of scuffs and stains accumulated through banging up against other things.
