Folk Art Weathervane in the form of a Cockerel c.1750A rare and early example of an English folk art Cockerel or Rooster formed as a weathervane originating from the Yorkshire Dales. c. 1750 Created from thick metal joined with original rivets and retaining its original paint. The roosters crowning feathers and beak are separately riveted to the piece. The pitted and weathered, richly patinated surface is exactly as we like to find it. The form of this folk art piece is paired back and of primitive
