Saksun Church, Faroe IslandsSaksun sits at the head of a narrow valley on Streymoy Island, where the mountains close in on either side and a tidal lagoon fills the space behind this small turf roofed church. The village is home to perhaps a dozen people. It feels like the edge of habitable land. Low cloud was sitting heavy on the peaks the morning I made this, obscuring the upper cliffs and pressing the whole scene into a narrow band of muted greens and greys. The diffused light
